Edna Brown (D-Toledo) was elected to serve Ohio’s 11th Senate district in November, 2010. Prior to joining the Senate, her dedication to public service led to a 32-year career as an employee with the city of Toledo, followed by an eight-year tenure as a member of Toledo City Council. She moved to the Statehouse in January 2002 to fill the Ohio House of Representatives seat of then newly-elected Toledo mayor Jack Ford. Senator Brown currently serves as the Minority Whip in the Senate.

Columbus – Today, Senator Edna Brown (D-Toledo) testified before the Senate Agriculture Committee on her legislation, Senate bill 16,  that addresses nutrient management problems that have led to toxic algae bloom outbreaks in Ohio’s waterways, especially in Lake Erie’s western basin. The bill focuses on implementing recommendations made during hearings in the 130th General Assembly on House Bill 490 and Senate Bill 150.

Columbus—Today, Senator Edna Brown (D-Toledo) joined Senator Tom Patton (R-Strongsville) to give sponsor testimony on Senate Bill 5 in the Senate Transportation, Commerce and Labor Committee.  The legislation makes peace officers, firefighters, and emergency medical workers diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) arising from employment without an accompanying physical injury eligible for compensation and benefits under Ohio's Workers' Compensation Law.
