Columbus- State Senator David Goodman was recently named a "Watchdog of the Treasury" by the United Conservatives of Ohio (UCO) for his work during the 127th General Assembly. The UCO advocates for public policy that promotes free enterprise, low taxes and greater efficiency in government.

Ohio Senate approves resolution that could change the location of the Columbus casino
Columbus- The Ohio Senate today voted to approve a proposed constitutional amendment that would permit voters to authorize a change in location for the Columbus casino. Senate Joint Resolution 8 was sponsored by Senators David Goodman and Jim Hughes (R- Columbus).

Columbus legislators introduce constitutional amendment to preserve local control over casino developments
Columbus - State Senators David Goodman and Jim Hughes (R-Clintonville) and State Representatives Cheryl Grossman (R-Grove City) and Kevin Bacon (R-Minerva Park) today introduced companion resolutions in the Ohio House and Senate that would place a constitutional amendment on the May ballot designed to preserve local control over Ohio's newly-authorized casinos.

Goodman and Hughes annouce OSU, Columbus State to receive funds for Choose Ohio First Scholarships
Columbus- State Senators Jim Hughes (R- Columbus) and David Goodman today announced that Columbus State Community College and The Ohio State University (OSU) are among the institutions of higher education selected to receive a total of $13.3 million in funding from the Choose Ohio First Scholarship program. The funding was approved by the state Controlling Board earlier this week.

Goodman announces funding for local organizations to help advance business development
Columbus-State Senators David Goodman and Jim Hughes (R- Columbus)  today announced the Edison Welding Institute, Inc. and BioOhio, Inc. will receive state Thomas Edison Program grants totaling $3.8 million that will allow the organizations to provide business support to early-stage technology companies. The money was approved by the state Controlling Board earlier today.

Columbus-State Senator David Goodman today announced the Ohio Senate has voted to approve Senate Bill 77, legislation he introduced that would expand the use of DNA testing, help to better preserve biological evidence and provide for blind line-ups to ensure unbiased witness identification.

Columbus - State Senator David Goodman today honored the Northland High School STEM Club for placing second in the nation at the Try-Math-Alon Quiz Bowl and the boys basketball team for winning the 2009 Division I state championship. Goodman presented the teams with resolutions on the Senate floor during today's legislative session.
