Senator Eric H. Kearney was elected Minority Leader of the Ohio Senate in January 2012. He has been a member of the Ohio Senate since December of 2005 representing the 9th Senate District which encompasses portions of Cincinnati and neighboring communities. As a member of the General Assembly, Senator Kearney has championed the issues of small business development, child safety, adoption, and crime prevention. Senator Kearney is a Cincinnati native and a graduate of St. Xavier High School and the University of Cincinnati College of Law. Before joining the Ohio Senate, he founded and built one of the largest African American owned publishing companies.

Senator Kearney Repeats Call For Swift Action to Resolve Casino Tax Issue
Columbus - State Senator Eric H. Kearney repeated his call for a quick resolution to the ongoing dispute over the Commercial Activities Tax (CAT) and how it should apply to Ohio's four new casinos.  The issue has already delayed the opening of Cincinnati's casino until 2013, and the company building casinos in Columbus and Toledo has warned it might be forced to reevaluate the scope of its planned investment.
