Senator Frank LaRose

27th Senate District
Senator Frank LaRose

State Senator Frank LaRose is currently serving his first term in the Ohio Senate. He represents the people of the 27th Ohio Senate District, which encompasses portions of Summit County. A decorated Army veteran, Frank now brings his real-world experience, energy and passion to the Ohio General Assembly. He knows that Ohio needs to live within its means and spend its money wisely without expecting working families to bear more of the burden.

For the 129th General Assembly, LaRose was named vice-chair of the Senate Highways and Transportation Committee, giving him a prominent role in the allocation of funds for critical transportation projects via the multi-billion state Transportation budget. He is also a member of the Energy and Public Utilities Committee, the Judiciary Committee and the State and Local Governments and Veterans Affairs Committee. In addition, LaRose serves as Chairman of the Joint Committee on Agency Rule Review, which is comprised of members of both the Senate and House and is responsible for reviewing administrative rules proposed by state agencies, departments, boards and commissions.

Senator LaRose developed his strong work ethic and sense of responsibility at a young age while working on a small family-owned farm in northeastern Ohio. Following his graduation from Copley High School, he fulfilled a life-long dream by enlisting in the United States Army with the 101st Airborne and eventually serving in the U.S. Special Forces as a Green Beret. During his decade in uniform – in which he was stationed throughout the globe – Frank received numerous commendations and honors, including the Bronze Star.

LaRose continues to serve the public and give back to his community since leaving the Army. He currently serves on the board of directors for the Summit County Historical Society and is the Jr. Vice Commander of the Fairlawn VFW. An Eagle Scout himself, he is also a member of the executive board for the Great Trail Council, Boy Scouts of America.

Senator LaRose graduated from The Ohio State University with a degree in consumer affairs and business. He and his wife, Lauren, live in Copley Township with their daughter.
