Senator
Senator Fred Strahorn represents the 5th Senate District encompassing Miami and portions of Montgomery and Darke counties. Prior to joining the Ohio Senate in March 2009, he spent eight years in the Ohio House of Representatives. Senator Strahorn graduated from The Ohio State University with a BA in Aviation Management. He began his public service career as a Legislative Aide to former State Senators Tom Roberts and Mark Mallory.

| Columbus - The Ohio Senate voted unanimously to pass Senate Bill 79, legislation co-sponsored by State Senator Fred Strahorn, that changes the name of the Department of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities to the Department of Developmental Disabilities. SB 79 also calls for county MRDD boards to drop the words "Mental Retardation" and change their names to boards of developmental disabilities. | |
