State Senator Jim Hughes (R–Columbus) today announced that Governor John R. Kasich has signed his bill into law to regulate high-volume dog breeders. The legislation, which Senator Hughes has championed for more than seven years, aims to remedy conditions of abuse and neglect that are sometimes associated with high-volume breeding facilities.
Senate President Keith Faber today named State Senator Jim Hughes (R–Columbus) Chairman of the Senate Committee on Insurance and Financial Institutions. During the previous General Assembly, Hughes served as Chairman of the Financial Institution’s Committee, a panel that has been reformed as part of the committee restructuring in preparation for the 130th General Assembly.
COLUMBUS– As part of the Opening Ceremonies of the 130th General Assembly, State Senator Jim Hughes (R–Columbus) was today officially sworn in for a second term as the Senator for the 16th District. Hughes was first elected to the Senate in 2008 after serving more than four terms in the Ohio House of Representatives. During the previous General Assembly, Senator Hughes presided as the Chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on Financial Institutions.
