Kevin Bacon was elected to the Ohio Senate in 2010 after serving two terms in the Ohio House of Representatives. His highest priority is to ensure Ohio is a place where business can thrive, bringing good-paying jobs and economic investment back to the state, especially central Ohio. During his tenure in the Ohio General Assembly, Senator Bacon has earned recognition for his hard work, especially on issues designed to improve the lives of children and individuals with special needs. He earned the Autism Society of Ohio Legislator of the Year Award (2007), the ARC of Ohio Freshman Legislator of the Year Award (2008), the Association of County Boards of MRDD Legislator of the Year Award (2008) and the Ohio Academy of Pediatrics Legislator of the Year Award (2008). A fiscal conservative, Senator Bacon has also been recognized as a Watchdog of the Treasury.

Senate passes mandatory crime victim notification system
Columbus- Named "Roberta's Law," the Ohio Senate today approved legislation which would mandate that victims and their families be notified when an offender is up for parole. Senators Kevin Bacon and Jim Hughes (R- Columbus), sponsored Senate Bill 160 after they were inspired by the story regarding Columbus resident, Roberta Francis. Roberta's family learned of her killer's release from prison by reading about it in the local newspaper.

Senator Bacon introduces legislation to protect Ohio consumers

Columbus-State Senator Kevin Bacon introduced legislation today to improve the practices of air duct cleaning services in Ohio.  Bacon recognized the need for regulation after watching an investigative report detailing instances in Ohio where consumers bought air duct cleaning services, only to encounter shoddy workmanship, uninsured vendors and pressure to purchase products and services that were unnecessary.

Senate passes Bacon bill to crack down on cyber fraud
Columbus- Legislation that targets cyber fraud offenders cleared the Ohio Senate today.  Senate Bill 223, sponsored by State Senator Kevin Bacon, will provide law enforcement agencies with the tools necessary to investigate and prosecute crimes of cyber fraud.  The bill passed unanimously during today's Senate session.

Safety and fun at center of 'Wear Your Bike Helmet to Work/School Day'

Columbus- State Senators Kevin Bacon and Jim Hughes (R- Columbus) today announced that the state Controlling Board has approved a $25,000 Rapid Outreach Grant to help purchase new machinery and equipment as part of SCI Engineered Materials, Inc.'s (SCI) expansion project, which is expected to create 50 new jobs and retain 26 others at the company's facility in Columbus.

Bacon to serve as chairman of Senate Insurance Committee
Columbus- State Senator Kevin Bacon today announced he has been named chairman of the Senate Insurance, Commerce and Labor Committee by Senate President Tom Niehaus (R- New Richmond). In this role, Bacon will work with committee members to provide Ohioans with access to affordable health insurance, maintain protections for consumers and ensure business practices are applied equally and fairly throughout the state. The committee also conducts hearings on the budgets of the Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation and the Ohio Industrial Commission.
