A fourth-generation resident of Cuyahoga Falls, Kevin Coughlin was elected to three terms in the Ohio House of Representatives and served there from 1997-2001. In 2001, he was appointed to the Ohio Senate, where Summit County voters elected and reelected him in 2002 and 2006.

| Columbus-Seeking to increase the number of Ohio residents with a college degree, state Senator Kevin Coughlin today introduced a legislative package that would create a new scholarship program designed to put a college education within reach of more Ohioans. Together, Senate Joint Resolution 9 and Senate Bill 224 would create the Ohio Promise Scholarship, which would provide eligible Ohio high school students who attend an in-state college or university with a scholarship worth up to $7,000 each year. | |
