Obhof has spent much of his career focusing on public policy issues such as health care, education, and property rights – and he will put his knowledge and experience on these and other issues to work on behalf of his constituents.

Obhof named to Ohio Constitutional Modernization Commission
Columbus- State Senator Larry Obhof announced today he has been appointed to the Ohio Constitutional Modernization Commission by Senate President Tom Niehaus (R- New Richmond). The General Assembly created the Ohio Constitutional Modernization Commission with the passage of House Bill 188 earlier this year. The bipartisan Commission is composed of six members each from the Ohio Senate and Ohio House and an additional 20 members appointed by the legislators.

Founding Documents bill approved by Ohio Senate
Columbus - State Senator Larry Obhof announced today that the Ohio Senate has unanimously voted to approve Senate Bill 165, legislation that would incorporate the study of certain historically significant documents into the high school education curriculum. Obhof co-sponsored the bill with Senator Tim Grendell (R- Chesterland).

Senator Obhof urges support for bill that would incorporate study of historically significant documents into education curriculum
Columbus- State Senator Larry Obhof testified before the Senate Education Committee recently in support of Senate Bill 165, which would require the study of certain historical documents as part of the American history and government curriculum for high school students. Documents to be studied would include the Declaration of Independence, the United States and Ohio Constitutions, and the Northwest Ordinance.  Obhof is co-sponsoring Senate Bill 165 with Senator Tim Grendell (R- Chesterland).

Statement from State Senator Larry Obhof on passage of state budget
Columbus- State Senator Larry Obhof issued the following statement today regarding the Ohio Senate's passage of House Bill 153, the state's operating budget:

"The Senate passed a responsible budget that eliminates a multi-billion dollar shortfall without raising taxes on Ohio families. I believe we made significant improvements to the budget since it was first introduced, including adding more than $100 million in funding for our schools."

Obhof announces passage of bill to update Ohio's tax code
Columbus- State Senator Larry Obhof announced that the Ohio Senate voted yesterday to approve House Bill 58, which conforms Ohio's tax code with changes made recently to the federal tax code. The changes will save taxpayers more than $45 million over the next three years and help them avoid complications when filing their tax returns. Obhof sponsored companion legislation in the Senate.

Columbus-Larry Obhof was today appointed to the 22nd Ohio Senate District seat, replacing former Senator Bob Gibbs, who was elected to Congress last year. The 22nd Ohio Senate District encompasses Medina, Holmes and Wayne counties and the northern and eastern portions of Ashland County. Obhof will serve through 2012.
