04.19.13 - School Safety Levy Gives Districts New Tool To Help Keep Students, Schools Safe

 

In the months since the tragic school shooting in Newtown, Connecticut, parents, lawmakers, school officials and public safety officials across the country have been working together to identify ways to prevent such an event from happening anywhere else. Here in the Ohio Senate, members of the School Safety Task Force held a series of public hearings earlier this year on this issue and are now discussing the various ideas and suggestions that were presented to the panel.

 
 

03.20.13 - Measures That Invest In Infrastructure, Workforce Development Adopted In Senate

 

COLUMBUS — State Senator Scott Oelslager today announced that the Legislature has given final approval to House Bill 51, the $7.6 billion state transportation budget. In addition to funding the Ohio Departments of Transportation and Public Safety, the bill contains a plan to allow $1.5 billion in bonds to be issued on the Ohio Turnpike. These funds will be used towards infrastructure projects in northern Ohio and throughout the state.

COLUMBUS — State Senator Scott Oelslager today announced the Ohio Senate voted to approve legislation that aims to provide earlier diagnosis and prevention of congenital heart defects in newborns. Oelslager jointly sponsored Senate Bill 4 with Senator Gayle Manning (R- North Ridgeville).
