COLUMBUS - State Senator Bill Beagle
(R-Tipp City) is encouraging Ohioans to participate in events during the inaugural "In-Demand Jobs Week," May 7-11, 2018
, a statewide recognition of jobs, industries and skills that are in-demand in Ohio.
The purpose of this designated week is to help students and job seekers discover, get connected with and learn more about the careers that are available in their local communities.
"This is a great opportunity to strengthen the connection between Ohio's business and education communities," said Senator Beagle. "The week was designed to increase awareness about high-paying, in-demand career opportunities and to help equip the workforce of tomorrow with the skills required in a rapidly evolving 21st Century economy."

"In-Demand Jobs Week" is part of ongoing workforce development efforts and was part of Senate Bill 3, sponsored by Senators Beagle and Troy Balderson
and was signed into law last summer. The bill aims to make Ohio's education system more responsive to the workforce demands of the state's economy.
A significant gap exists between the number of workers expected to hold degrees and certifications and the estimated labor force demands over the next ten years.
In collaboration with the Ohio Department of Education, Department of Higher Education and the Governor’s Office of Workforce Transformation, Ohio's major industries are creating a statewide strategic workforce plan to enhance project-based learning and develop professional development programs that address how to build authentic, real-world learning into the curriculum.
