COLUMBUS – Governor John Kasich today signed into law Senate Bill 23, sponsored by Senator Dave Burke (R-Marysville), which gives adults adopted between January 1964 and September 1996 appropriate access to their original birth records.  An adoptee himself, Senator Burke believes many Ohioans will benefit from this simple correction in the law by being able to access important health records.

COLUMBUS– State Senator Dave Burke (R–Marysville) today honored Makayla Dull, the 2013 Division II State Girls’ Golf Champion. Makayla is a junior at Lakota High School and is the first individual from Lakota to win the Division II girls state golf title. She won the championship by five strokes.
“Makayla has been in the top 10 in the state for each of her first two years in varsity golf at Lakota,” said Burke. “Her drive and talent have led her to a well-deserved championship, and I’m sure we’ll be seeing more from her.”

COLUMBUS– The Senate today passed Senate Concurrent Resolution 10, sponsored by Senator Dave Burke (R–Marysville), which calls on Congress to seek the withdrawal of the United States Preventative Services Task Force (USPSTF) recommendation against prostate-specific antigen-based screening for prostate cancer for men in all age groups.

COLUMBUS – The Senate earlier this month unanimously passed Senate Bill 155, sponsored by Senator Dave Burke.  The legislation grants a joint board of county commissioners the authority to conduct county ditch proceedings for existing projects via teleconference or video conference.

COLUMBUS– The Senate Finance Subcommittee on Medicaid will hold a field hearing in Dayton, Ohio on the topics of payment reform, behavioral health integration, quality strategy, care management, duals and pharmacy. This is the second field hearing designed to glean additional data and information as part of the legislature’s larger conversation on Medicaid Reform.

Senator Dave Burke (R-Marysville) took the Medicaid Finance subcommittee on the road today to learn more about healthcare reform at Cleveland MetroHealth System.
The goal was to learn what MetroHealth’s healthcare program was doing to lower costs while providing more coverage.
