COLUMBUS— State Senator Bill Coley
(R-Liberty Township) this week welcomed his constituent, James Hutchinson of the Hamilton Post, to Senate Session to be recognized for his outstanding service to his community and the State of Ohio. Hutchinson recently earned top honors at the Ohio State Highway Patrol annual leadership awards, being named the 2018 State Trooper of the Year.
"It was an honor to recognize this phenomenal achievement and celebrate the career of a community hero during this week's session," said Coley. "Because of Trooper Hutchinson's bravery and commitment we can all feel safer and more secure under his, and the entire Ohio Highway Patrol's, watch."
Trooper Hutchinson joined the Patrol in April 2012 as a member of the 139th Academy Class, and earned his commission in October of that year. In 2015, he earned the Certificate of Recognition. In 2017, he earned the Criminal Patrol Award. As a trooper, he also served at the Batavia, Hamilton and Cincinnati posts; the Patrol Training Academy; and the Southwest Ohio Motorcycle Unit.
