Senate Transportation Chairman Visits BMV on First Day of New Driver's License System
July 2, 2018
COLUMBUS—State Senator Frank LaRose (R-Hudson) today joined Registrar Don Petit to get the new federally compliant identification card at a BMV in Columbus, which Ohio began offering on July 2nd.

“Getting the new compliant driver’s license was quick and easy,” said LaRose. “I was happy to join Registrar Don Petit at the local BMV to renew my driver’s license and personally ensure the new process is running smoothly.”

Ohio is now offering a more secure driver’s license that complies with the federal Real ID Act which requires new standards for state ID’s. The compliant card will meet national travel security requirements and will be necessary to fly commercially beginning in October 2020.

Additional documents are required to obtain the new federally compliant card. For more information please visit http://www.bmv.ohio.gov/NEWDL-ID/acceptabledocs.aspx.
