Today, state Senator Sean J. O’Brien (D-Bazetta) recognized the Champion High School girls softball team for their 2018 Division III State Championship on the Ohio Senate floor.
“These young women displayed incredible teamwork and put together a remarkable season, going undefeated at 31-0,” said Sen. O’Brien. “We as a community are so proud of all this team has accomplished, and I can’t wait to see what the future has in store for all of them.”
In addition to going undefeated, the 2018 team outscored their opponents 320-25, pitched 19 shutouts and hit 42 home runs. In the past four years, the team has won three state championships while maintaining a record of 119-11.
