Senator O'Brien Applauds Funding For Ashtabula, Trumbull And Geauga Investment Projects
March 21, 2018

Today, state Senator Sean J. O’Brien (D-Bazetta) applauded the Ohio Senate’s passage of the state’s Capital Budget, which includes $3,122,500 for 13 economic development projects out of the 21 submitted by the Senator for Ohio’s 32nd Senate District.

“Being able to secure funding for nearly two-thirds of the projects for which my office submitted requests is fantastic and really speaks to the power of bipartisan collaboration,” said Senator O’Brien. “It is rare to get such a high percentage of project requests funded in the capital bill so I’m very happy to see the investment in our community.”

Local projects in the bill include:

  • $200,000 for improvements to the Eastwood Field in Niles

  • $150,000 for the construction of the Weathersfield Township Multijurisdictional Opioid Treatment Center

  • $500,000 for Ashtabula Juvenile Court Resources and Reporting Center improvements

The Capital Budget, introduced in late February, includes $2.6 billion in funding for capital improvement projects around the state. The bill now goes to the Governor for his signature.
