Peterson Recognizes Local Livestock Champions on Senate Floor
November 14, 2018

COLUMBUS—State Senator Bob Peterson (R-Washington Court House) today recognized local youth champions for their work raising and evaluating livestock.

"It always fills me with pride to see kids in our community living up to our great agricultural heritage, and I was honored to have them join me in Columbus so I could congratulate them for their accomplishments," said Peterson. "After spending time with Allison, Emily, Caleb, Eric and Bryn, I am more confident than ever in the future of our livestock industry and look forward to seeing the positive impact they will continue to have in their communities, wherever their careers may lead them."

First, Allison Davis of Carrollton was recognized for the hard work she put into raising her 2018 Ohio State Fair Grand Champion Meat Chickens.

Additionally, the Greenfield McClain High School FFA Livestock Judging Team was honored for beating out 169 teams and 978 individuals to win the state contest. Members of the team include Emily Jones, Caleb Cook, Eric Anderson and Bryn Karnes.

The last time McClain FFA had a team achieve this accomplishment was in 1974. They most recently represented Ohio at the 91st National FFA Convention in Indianapolis where they competed against state champions from across the nation.
