COLUMBUS—State Senator Joe Uecker (R-Miami Township), legislative member of the Ohio Aerospace and Aviation Technology Committee (OAATC), recently announced that the committee will begin accepting applications from the public for committee appointments.
The OAATC will be accepting applications from the public at large until 3 p.m. on Wednesday, May 8 to fill the fourteen vacancies on the 2019-20 committee. The committee prides itself on the geographic diversity of its membership, as well as varying levels of professional experiences in the field of aerospace and aviation. Those interested in applying may access the application at http://www.aerospaceandaviation.ohio.gov/apply.
"This is an excellent opportunity for members of southwest Ohio to be engaged and involved in our work to unite leaders of the aerospace and aviation community," said Uecker. "If selected, you will have the unique opportunity to work with industry leaders, military representatives, academic experts and government officials to keep Ohio on the cutting edge of scientific development and the state's aerospace and aviation strategy."
Enacted under House Bill 292 in 2014, the OAATC is charged with studying and developing comprehensive strategies to promote the aviation, aerospace, and technology industries throughout the state.
Additionally, the committee promotes workforce initiatives at all levels that support the aviation and aerospace industry, as well as research and development in the aviation, aerospace, and technology industries, including research and development of unmanned aerial vehicles.
Committee members are encouraged to foster communication and resource-sharing among individuals and organizations involved in the aviation, aerospace, and technology industry, including business, military, and academia.
