A Cleveland area native, State Senator Tim Grendell has represented Ohio’s 18th Senate District since 2004. Equally as diverse as the region he represents, which includes all of Lake and Geauga Counties, and the eastern portion of Cuyahoga County, Senator Grendell’s legislative priorities have included a wide range of issues such as securing bonuses for returning soldiers and strengthening pharmacy technician standards throughout Ohio.

Grendell wins support for bill to provide Ohio colleges and universities with a new way to raise funds for capital projects
Columbus- State Senator Tim Grendell today won support from his Senate colleagues for Senate Bill 249, his legislation that would allow the board of trustees of Ohio's colleges and universities to enter into a lease/leaseback arrangement to monetize revenue streams associated with their auxiliary operations such as student housing and parking. Grendell co-sponsored the bill with Senator Bill Seitz (R- Cincinnati).

Senator Grendell named to Correctional Institution Inspection Committee
Columbus- State Senator Tim Grendell today announced he has been named to the Correctional Institution Inspection Committee (CIIC) by Ohio Senate President Bill Harris. The committee is composed of four members each from the Ohio Senate and the Ohio House of Representatives. Grendell previously served as a member of CIIC during the 127th General Assembly.

Ohio Senate passes Grendell's bill revising parental consent for abortion law
Columbus- State Senator Tim Grendell today won approval from the Ohio Senate for Senate Bill 242, legislation he introduced that would revise the process by which a minor seeking an abortion can bypass the parental notification requirement. Grendell co-sponsored the measure with Senator Karen Gillmor (R- Tiffin).

Grendell recognizes Katie Spotz on becoming the youngest person to row across the Atlantic Ocean solo

Columbus- State Senator Tim Grendell today presented Mentor resident Katie Spotz with a resolution on the floor of the Ohio Senate for setting a world record as the youngest person to complete a solo row across the Atlantic Ocean at the age of 22. Katie's journey from the west coast of Africa to South America spanned 3,038 miles and took 70 days.

Grendell urges support for bill that would reduce income tax rate for Ohio seniors age 70 1/2 or older

Columbus- State Senator Tim Grendell today testified before the Senate Ways & Means & Economic Development Committee in support of Senate Bill 258, legislation that would reduce the maximum income tax rate on unearned income to one percent for Ohioans age 70 ½ years or older. Similar legislation has been introduced in the Ohio House of Representatives by Representative Dick Hollington (R- Hunting Valley).

Columbus- State Senator Tim Grendell recently recognized Dr. Carl Stitz, a professor of mathematics at Lakeland Community College, on the floor of the Ohio Senate for being selected as one of 10 faculty members from Ohio's colleges and universities to receive the Ohio Board of Regents' 2010 Faculty Innovator Award. Dr. Stitz was selected for his work in developing a college algebra book that can be adapted to any educational organization's needs anywhere in the world, free of cost.

Ohio Senate passes Grendell's bill prohibiting the use of federal stimulus dollars on signs identifying stimulus projects
Columbus- State Senator Tim Grendell today won support from his Senate colleagues for Senate Bill 179, legislation he introduced that would prohibit federal stimulus dollars from being spent on signs identifying the source of a project's funding. Grendell sponsored the bill after learning that federal stimulus dollars were being spent on signs identifying projects that are also funded through the federal stimulus package approved by Congress in 2009.

Grendell announces state loan for growth of U.S. Endoscopy in Mentor, creation of 150 new jobs
Columbus- State Senator Tim Grendell today announced that United States Endoscopy Group, Inc. in Mentor has been awarded a $100,000 Rapid Outreach Grant from the state for the purchase of new machinery and equipment in support of the company's expansion project, which will create 150 new jobs and retain 281 others.

Columbus-State Senator Tim Grendell today recognized Payne & Payne Builders on the floor of the Ohio Senate for being named the 2009 Custom Home Builder of the Year by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB). The company is just the fourth in the nation to receive this honor, which is the highest one bestowed by the NAHB. Ohio Senate approves Grendell's resolution to create Competitive Workers' Compensation Task Force
Columbus- State Senator Tim Grendell announced the Ohio Senate has approved Senate Resolution 118, which would create the Competitive Workers' Compensation Task Force. The bipartisan task force would study alternatives, including market place competition, with respect to the worker's compensation system in Ohio.

Grendell introduces bill to require reporting of pharmacy errors
Columbus - State Senator Tim Grendell today introduced Senate Bill 119, legislation that would require errors that result in serious physical harm or death caused by a pharmacy error in dispensing drugs to a patient to be reported to the State Pharmacy Board. If approved by the Legislature, Ohio would become only the third state in the country to require such reporting.

Columbus - State Senator Tim Grendell and Isabella Todaro, an eighth-grade student at West Geauga Middle School, today testified in support of Senate Bill 81, legislation sponsored by Grendell that would designate the spotted salamander as the official state amphibian of Ohio. Grendell's veterans bonus resolution approved
Columbus - Senator Tim Grendell today announced that the Ohio House of Representatives voted overwhelmingly to approve Senate Joint Resolution 1, a bipartisan proposal to provide for the issuance of $200 million in bonds for one-time bonuses to veterans of the Persian Gulf War and the ongoing conflicts in Afghanistan and Iraq. Upon being passed by the legislature, final approval for SJR 1 would come from Ohio voters this November when the issue is placed on the ballot.
