COLUMBUS— Governor DeWine today signed Tyler's Law, sponsored by State Senator Louis W. Blessing, III (R-Colerain Township), legislation to improve the safety and operation of amusement rides for Ohio families.
Tyler's Law, named after Tyler Jarrell who was tragically killed while on an amusement ride at the Ohio State Fair in 2017, takes a number of steps to modernize safety inspection standards as well as help make sure only the most qualified inspectors are chosen to perform this important job.
An emergency clause included in the language allows the bill to take effect immediately.
"I am proud to see lawmakers work together to take action and I am grateful for the swift passage and signing of this important legislation," said Senator Blessing. "Tyler's family has been incredibly brave and involved throughout this process, and I sincerely appreciate all of their work to help keep others safe."
