COLUMBUS—State Senator Rob McColley
(R-Napoleon) presented a Senate resolution honoring Cole Mattin on winning the 2018 Division III Wrestling State Championship in the 126-pound weight class.
Mattin, who is currently a Junior at Pike Delta York High School, ended his season with a record of 47-3, defeating Klay Reeves of Johnstown Northridge to take home the state title. He was joined at the Statehouse by his parents, Dr. Mike and Leigh Mattin. The Mattin family is a familiar name in wrestling, with Cole’s older brother, Drew, being a previous three-time Division III state champion.
“Cole is an incredibly dedicated young man and it was my honor to recognize him on this great accomplishment,” said McColley. “If his older brother was any indication, I imagine that this will not be the last time we recognize Cole for a state title. His success is a reflection not only on him but his family, teammates and coaches and I am very proud to commend him on the Senate floor today.”
