O'Brien Responds to TJX HomeGoods Announcement
May 4, 2018
State Sen. Sean J. O’Brien (D-Bazetta) responded today to the announcement by TJX HomeGoods that they will continue to pursue a previously planned $160 million investment in Lordstown. The project came into question after TJX announced it was pulling its zoning application in Lordstown due to complaints from several neighbors in the area.
“I am reassured by TJX Homegoods’ commitment to the Lordstown distribution center, following direct conversations with the company and their announcement today,” said Sen. O’Brien. “I remain committed to working with TJX HomeGoods, the Youngstown-Warren Regional Chamber of Commerce and our federal, state and local partners throughout the duration of this project.”
The project will result in the construction of a 1.2 million square foot distribution center in Lordstown, along with the creation of over 1,000 new jobs. The facility could be up and running by 2020.
“I applaud TJX Homegoods for their willingness to sit down with myself and other local leaders to come to a resolution that will be good for everyone in Trumbull County.”
