State Senator Bob Peterson (R-Sabina) announced today that the state will invest funds to make necessary structural repairs to the Shoemaker Center Bridge.
This week, the state approved a request for $545,491 to make repairs to the Chillicothe bridge.
“This investment will help make repairs to the Shoemaker Center Bridge that are long overdue,” said Peterson. “The Shoemaker Center houses over 2,000 people and is the largest venue in Chillicothe.”
The bridge, which was originally constructed in 1979, serves as a main entrance to the Shoemaker Center located on Ohio University’s Chillicothe Regional Campus.
In 2005 reinforcements to the bridge were installed, but a recent inspection revealed that the framing was exposed.
