COLUMBUS—State Senator Michael Rulli
(R-Salem) today joined Secretary of State Frank LaRose and other members of the General Assembly to welcome students from across Ohio to be recognized for their Soap Box Derby Championship victories.
"These students exercised a great deal of dedication and passion, and it was a pleasure to congratulate the Soap Box Derby champions at the Ohio Statehouse today," said Rulli. "Their innovation and ingenuity is truly commendable, and these are skills they will carry with them for the rest of their lives."
Among the participants were members from the Mahoning Valley Soap Box Derby, located in McDonald, Ohio. The 82nd FirstEnergy All-American Soap Box Derby is schedule to take place on July 14-20, 2019 in Akron, OH. For more information, click here
Every year, young Ohioans from 7 to 18 years old build gravity-powered cars and compete to qualify for the FirstEnergy All-American Soap Box Derby at Derby Downs in Akron. The International Soap Box Derby is the recognized governing body of soap Box Derby racing that operates the Derby Downs Track where more than 70 annual events take place.
