COLUMBUS—State Senator Michael Rulli (R-Salem) today released a statement regarding Ohio's FY 2022-2023 biennial budget, which included a number of amendments Rulli championed for the Mahoning Valley.

"I am pleased the additional effort I made to secure these hometown projects brought results that weren't even part of the discussion in the House. If you don't ask you wont get it. I asked, worked with President Huffman, and now these vital projects are part of the budget. I will always be an enthusiastic and loud advocate for our district."State Senator Michael Rulli

Among other provisions, Rulli worked with Senate leadership to:

- Provide Youngstown City Schools a pathway out of its Academic Distress Commission
- Secure $3.5 million for Eastern Gateway Community College to create new workforce initiative
- Appropriate $1 million for the Mahoning Valley Campus of Care
- Allocate $150,000 for the Lisbon Village Fire Department
- Appropriate $200,000 in FY 2022 for Youngstown State University's Mahoning Valley Workforce Partnership
- Allocate $425,000 each fiscal year to support at risk youth at Mahoning County High School
- Provide $150,000 in FY 2022 for the City of East Liverpool to acquire, demolish, or rehabilitate abandoned houses and conduct property cleanup activities
- Securing $350 million to identify and address clean-up for abandoned industrial properties, known as “brownfields” across the state
