Senator Thomas Applauds UC's Move to Freeze Tuition for '18-'19 School Year
April 17, 2018
The University of Cincinnati’s Board of Trustees voted today to freeze undergraduate tuition for the fourth consecutive year. State Senator Cecil Thomas (D-Cincinnati) issued the following statement in response:
“I applaud UC for their move to freeze tuition next year – the only Ohio public university so far pledging to do so. It is so critical that we seek to make higher education a reality for more students and families. That is especially important because Ohio ranks among the last for college affordability, putting higher education out of reach for far too many people.
“As a state, we need to take the same responsibility and focus on increasing funding for our public colleges. Education is the key to a good-paying career and success, and we have to be dedicated to increasing opportunities for every Ohioan.”
