COLUMBUS– The Senate Finance Subcommittee on Medicaid will hold a field hearing in Dayton, Ohio on the topics of payment reform, behavioral health integration, quality strategy, care management, duals and pharmacy. This is the second field hearing designed to glean additional data and information as part of the legislature’s larger conversation on Medicaid Reform.

Senator Dave Burke (R-Marysville) took the Medicaid Finance subcommittee on the road today to learn more about healthcare reform at Cleveland MetroHealth System.
The goal was to learn what MetroHealth’s healthcare program was doing to lower costs while providing more coverage.

Senator Dave Burke (R-Marysville) today chaired a Senate panel to discuss improvement goals for Medicaid reform. The Medicaid Finance Subcommittee members heard testimony and questioned witnesses to better understand the many components involved in sustainable reform to Ohio’s Medicaid program.

The bill contains as its cornerstones one of the largest single-year tax cuts in Ohio’s history as well as the largest legislative investment in public education in more than 10 years.

Members of the Ohio Senate today announced the introduction of a new bipartisan bill aimed at systemic reform of Ohio’s Medicaid system. The legislation, jointly sponsored by Senators Dave Burke (R–Marysville) and Capri Cafaro (D–Hubbard), seeks to help Ohioans gain access to affordable health care while minimizing costs to Ohio and maximizing the benefit to Ohio taxpayers.

COLUMBUS — State Senator Dave Burke announced that two projects in Northwest Ohio have been awarded Job Creation Tax Credits in support of expansion projects at National Machinery and the Rexam Beverage Can Company that are expected to create 90 new jobs and more than $4 million in new annual payroll. The credits were approved at a recent meeting of the Ohio Tax Credit Authority, which approved assistance for 15 projects across the state, resulting in the creation of more than 1,300 jobs and the retention of 2,600 others.

COLUMBUS — State Senator Dave Burke today introduced Senate Bill 43, which seeks to clarify Ohio’s existing laws regarding court-ordered outpatient treatment for mental illness. Burke sponsored the legislation with Senator Charleta Tavares (D- Columbus).
