COLUMBUS—Ohio Senate President Matt Huffman (R-Lima) formally appointed Senator Matt Dolan (R-Chagrin Falls) and Senator Theresa Gavarone (R-Bowling Green) to serve on the state budget conference committee.
Dolan, who chairs the Senate Finance Committee, and Gavarone, who serves as vice chair of the committee, will represent the 25-member Senate Republican caucus on the panel, which is responsible for negotiating a compromise between the proposed House and Senate versions of the state’s new, two-year operating budget.
"As we begin deliberations with the House this week, I look forward to representing my colleagues and our hard work on the state's two-year operating budget as we reach an agreement that maintains balance and fiscal responsibility, investing in all Ohioans," said Dolan
Recognizing the importance of education, the Senate version of the budget increases K-12 funding in FY22-23 by $228 million when compared to the House's proposal.
