Fedor Comments on FTC Complaint Filed About ProMedica
June 18, 2020

Today, state Senator Teresa Fedor (D-Toledo) issued the following statement in response to a complaint filed with the Federal Trade Commission by University of Toledo Medical Center psychiatry professor Dr. Daniel Rapport regarding ProMedica’s bid to take over operations of UTMC:

“The Academic Affiliation Agreement does not assume UTMC’s destruction. Yet, it seems that UTMC’s operations are being dismantled at the direct benefit of ProMedica. The Federal Trade Commission is a bipartisan federal agency with a dual mission to protect consumers and promote competition. In the last 100 years, the agency has championed the interests of American consumers. As this highly acclaimed doctor files complaints, I encourage anyone else with firsthand knowledge of anti-compete concerns to contact the FTC, the Ohio Attorney General, or both.”
