Fedor Comments on Governor's Budget Proposal
February 1, 2021
Today, state Senator Teresa Fedor (D-Toledo) issued the following statement after Governor Mike DeWine announced the biennial budget for fiscal years 2022 and 2023:

“I agree with much of Governor DeWine’s budget proposal, but it is shortsighted. I have said for years that children are the future and our greatest economic engine. This one-time infusion of dollars into our education system is a great stop gap, but it is not a long-term solution. A Fair School Funding Plan should be the priority when our schools are not adequately funded and our state is still facing two of the worst public health crises in decades: the Covid-19 pandemic and the opioid crisis.

“I will be working closely with my colleagues in the House through the legislative process and hope to strengthen the governor's budget proposal to truly work for all Ohioans. We should be fixing our unconstitutional funding formula – not continuing to siphon more public school dollars to private education.”
