Fedor Statement on LaRose's Drop Box Directive
October 5, 2020
Today, state Senator Teresa Fedor (D-Toledo) issued the following statement in response to Secretary of State Frank LaRose’s new directive allowing Ohio counties to have multiple secure ballot drop boxes, but only at the site of their county board of elections:
“The 10th District Court of Appeals made it clear in its Friday ruling that Ohio law does not limit the number or the location of ballot drop boxes. These limits are only imposed by the secretary of state, who has yet again chosen to create roadblocks to voting access.
“This directive does little to help Ohioans during a global pandemic, those without adequate access to transportation, and those living with limited mobility.
“If Secretary LaRose truly wants to improve voting access, he should allow multiple drop boxes in areas across all counties in Ohio instead of issuing directives that sound helpful in theory, but do nothing in practice.”
