Fedor Urges State Pension Systems to Divest Russian Investments
March 7, 2022
Today, state Senator Teresa Fedor (D-Toledo) issued the following statement urging Ohio’s five public pension systems – the Ohio Public Employees Retirement System, the State Teachers Retirement System, the School Employees Retirement System, the Ohio Police & Fire Pension Fund and the Ohio Highway Patrol Retirement System – to divest all Russian investments, which total more than $200 million:
“Ohio needs to make it exceptionally clear to the world, and to Russia, that we do not condone this unprovoked invasion on Ukraine. We need to cut any and all ties with Russia where we have to ability to do so and our public pension systems can lead the way by divesting in Russian assets. This is the time for Ohioans not to be divided, and not to be partisan. We stand with Ukraine.”
