COLUMBUS—State Senator Frank Hoagland (R-Mingo Junction) today presented a Senate Resolution to Chris Hammond for being named the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction's (ODRC) 2021 Correctional Officer of the Year and the Ronald C. Marshall Award recipient.

"Officer Hammond is someone who shows up to work every day on time, in the right uniform, and with the right attitude," said Senator Hoagland. "It is folks like Chris who make Ohio such a great state, and his leadership and hard-work should be a model for all."

Officer Hammond has been working for ODRC since 2013 at the Belmont Correction Institution where he has worked a variety of jobs over his career including special response team member, institutional armorer, instructor of firearms, on the job trainer and crisis intervention team member.

“We are very proud of Officer Hammond and feel he embodies the qualities necessary to make him a recipient of the Ronald C Marshall Award. He is not only an exemplary officer, he is also a devoted family man. Officer Hammond had been with our department for over 8 years, and we thank him for his outstanding work,” added Annette M. Chambers-Smith, Director of the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections.
