COLUMBUS—On Monday, State Senator Frank Hoagland (R-Mingo Junction) toured the W. H. Sammis Power Plant, a coal power plant in Stratton, Ohio and met with plant leadership and workers.
First Energy Solution's announced earlier this year that the Sammis Power Plant would remain open after the state's new energy plan, House Bill 6, was signed into law in July.
"I understand the importance of coal to our region and our state. It is a significant component of our state's energy grid and it puts hundreds of people to work in Southeast Ohio," said Hoagland, who voted in support of House Bill 6. "I am thrilled, that because of our work in House Bill 6, the doors at Sammis have remained open for business, keeping the lights on for Ohio families, securing jobs for the hard-working people in my district."
