In the coming days, many of us will gather to spread joy and gratitude and to celebrate the Holiday season with family and friends around dinner tables, in houses of worship, and in front of a warm fire.
For my family, the Holiday season is about celebrating the birth of Jesus, our savior. We will honor his birth and his sacrifice by remembering why we gather at Christmas time and by reflecting on all the blessings he has bestowed on us. In our church, we will pray with our neighbors for a more peaceful world that is free from tyranny and I will pray for the guidance to carry out my responsibility as a legislator.
This Holiday season we must also remember those in our community who are facing trying times with the hope that their spirits are uplifted during a season when every person should feel joy and love. In particular, I will be praying for the children impacted by Ohio’s opioid crisis who are facing challenges no one should endure and for their parents to find a way to break the chains of addiction.
Every family get-together this season is made possible by the men and women of our armed services who protect our freedom, so be sure to take time during your family celebration to recognize the members of our military and their loved ones who sacrifice so much for us throughout the year.
I wish you and your family a blessed and safe Holiday season and as always, if you have questions or concerns about any of the matters we are discussing at the Statehouse, please reach out to my office via the Ohio Senate website or through my Facebook or Twitter accounts.
