Hottinger Elected as Ohio Senate Majority Whip

COLUMBUS—The Senate unanimously elected State Senator Jay Hottinger (R-Newark) to serve as the Senate Majority Whip for the 133rd General Assembly.

“I am honored to be elected by my colleagues to serve as the Majority Whip on the Ohio Senate’s leadership team,” Hottinger said. “I look forward to utilizing my legislative experience to play a key role in orchestrating legislation to ensure Ohio’s continued success.”

As Majority Whip, Senator Hottinger will be responsible for monitoring legislation and securing votes for legislation on the Senate floor.

Other members of leadership include Senator Larry Obhof (R-Medina) serving his second term as President of the Ohio Senate for the 133rd General Assembly and Senator Bob Peterson (R-Washington Court House) as President Pro Tempore. Senator Matt Huffman was selected (R-Lima) as Majority Floor Leader.

“A committed public servant, Jay has a heart for issues important to his constituents and strong relationships with our members,” said Obhof. “I value his experience and his insight as part of our Senate leadership team.”
