Hottinger Issues Statement on Union Hospital Announcement
May 24, 2017

COLUMBUS—State Senator Jay Hottinger (R-Newark) issued the following statement Wednesday afternoon regarding the announcement of Union Hospital joining the Cleveland Clinic Health System:

“Union Hospital has been providing quality healthcare for Tuscarawas County and the valley for over 111 years. While we all would love to see the hospital maintain its independence, the growing challenges facing all community hospitals cannot be denied. In order to secure the long term viability of the hospital and to help maintain its progress for years to come it is important to establish a relationship with another entity.

"The Cleveland Clinic has a renowned reputation for clinical quality and care. Today’s announcement allows the local hospital to not only maintain its services and employment but to also grow them.”
