Hottinger Statement on the Ohio Department of Insurance's Announcement of Coverage Access for Underserved Counties
July 31, 2017

COLUMBUS—The following statement can be attributed to State Senator Jay Hottinger (R-Newark), Chairman of the Senate Insurance and Financial Institutions Committee:

"While the situation regarding access to healthcare on the exchange remains a perilous and tenuous situation both in Ohio and across the country, I am pleased with the Ohio Department of Insurance's announcement today that 19 of the 20 previously identified counties that would have been without an insurer on the exchange will have access to coverage, at least for 2018. The challenges and uncertainty in the marketplace continue to be a house of cards, and the slightest changes could result in further turmoil, but today we celebrate the good news of the five carriers who have stepped up to serve Ohioans in those counties."
