COLUMBUS—Senate President Matt Huffman (R-Lima) and Senate Finance Chairman Matt Dolan (R-Chagrin Falls) today released the Ohio Senate's tentative hearing schedule for the state budget, House Bill 110.
Under Ohio law, the legislature must pass a balanced budget, and have it signed by the Governor, prior to July 1 of this year.
"The state's budget is one of the most complex and important pieces of legislation we will consider throughout this General Assembly," said President Huffman. "I trust the Senate will work diligently, efficiently and transparently to provide our great state with an operating budget that is both balanced and fiscally responsible, keeping the hard-working taxpayers of this state in mind with each decision made."
“I look forward to the budget making its way to the Senate for a thorough and transparent debate on topics impacting Ohioans,” said Dolan.“Given the short time frame we have to review the bill, our Finance Committee will work in coordination with our other committees, allowing us to have focused discussions.”
The Senate Finance Committee budget hearings are streamed live online at OhioSenate.gov and OhioChannel.org and are also broadcast on public access stations by the Ohio Chanel. Committee meetings are open to the public, and a schedule can be found at OhioSenate.gov/Committees.
Portions of the budget will be sent to standing Senate committees to hear testimony based on specified topics. Those interested in testifying should contact the committee chairs listed below.
