COLUMBUS—State Senator Steve Huffman (R-Tipp City) today announced the Senate's passage of Senate Bill 3, which would join Ohio with the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC), an agreement providing professional flexibility by allowing registered nurses and licensed practical or vocational nurses to work in multiple states.
"Senate Bill 3 is another policy that proves the Senate's commitment to removing barriers to employment for the Ohio worker," said Huffman. "Ohio is home to so many talented and qualified nurses who deserve the opportunities and flexibility that joining this Compact will create for them."
The NLC focuses on increasing access to care by allowing nurses to come to Ohio to provide care for patients without having to obtain additional licenses. Currently, 34 states have joined the NLC, including neighboring states like Indiana, Kentucky and West Virginia.
Senate Bill 3 will now go to the Ohio House of Representatives for consideration.
