Today, state Senators Tina Maharath (D-Canal Winchester) and Nickie J. Antonio (D-Lakewood) sent a letter to Governor DeWine urging him to follow the leadership of Minnesota Governor Tim Walz (DFL-MIN) and issue an executive order to make Ohio the 22nd state in the country to ban the discredited practice of conversion therapy.

Today, members of the Ohio Senate Democratic Caucus urged Governor Mike DeWine to veto House Bill 244, which was amended with dangerous provisions that would limit the Ohio Department of Health's ability to respond to future public health emergencies and prevent public schools and higher education institutions from creating policies to keep students and employees safe.

Today, state Senator Tina Maharath (D-Canal Winchester) applauded the unanimous Senate passage of House Bill 170, which provides $787 million in federal money to Ohio's K-12 schools to help provide safe learning opportunities during the pandemic and make up for lost learning time.

Today, Senate Minority Whip Tina Maharath (D-Canal Winchester) commended the Ohio Senate's concurrence of House amendments to Senate Bills 108 and 109. These two bills collectively allocate $682 million of federal relief dollars to Ohio bars, restaurants, hotels, small businesses, childcare providers, food banks and more that have struggled through the pandemic.
