Maharath Applauds Passage of House Bill 4
February 9, 2022
Today, state Senator Tina Maharath (D-Canal Winchester) released the following statement in response to the Ohio Senate’s passage of House Bill 4, which improves child abuse and neglect reporting in Ohio:
“I am pleased that the Ohio Senate voted unanimously to support House Bill 4. This legislation will ensure that Ohio’s children receive better protection by mandating cross-reporting of child-abuse between public children services agencies and law enforcement.
“Child abuse and neglect are serious crimes that happen far too often. They have devastating, lifelong effects. This bill will help ensure that abusers are held responsible and that victims get the help they need.”
According to the Public Children Services Association of Ohio, physical abuse is the most common reason children in Ohio enter foster care.
