Today, state Sen. Tina Maharath (D-Canal Winchester) applauded Governor DeWine’s opposition to Senate Bill 222, legislation to block local municipalities’ plastic grocery bag bans.
“It is vitally important for the state legislature to leave local decisions to our local governments. Local communities are in the best position to do what works for their respective residents and businesses,” said Maharath, Ranking Minority Member of the Senate Local Government committee.
On Tuesday, the Local Government committee had its third hearing on Senate Bill 222, hearing from nearly 40 opponents.
“I hope our committee can find a solution that is good for small businesses, good for the environment and protects home rule," said Maharath.
