Dale B. Martin Sworn in as State Senator for Ohio Senate District 21
June 8, 2022
Today, state Senator Dale B. Martin (D-Cleveland) was officially elected and sworn in as the state senator for Ohio’s 21st Senate District to serve out the unexpired term of Senator Sandra Williams, which will end December 31.

“As a lifelong resident of Cleveland, I know what it takes to serve those who live in the 21st Senate District,” Martin said. “I’m ready to work alongside the Senate Democratic Caucus and the rest of the legislature to make tough decisions, build back our communities and advocate for all Ohioans.”

Senator Martin has spent more than four decades working as an electrician, most recently for Cleveland Public Power. He is also a retired member of IBEW Local 673 and has significant experience organizing and volunteering in the community, including through voter registration drives and Get Out the Vote campaigns.

“I’m proud to welcome to our caucus Dale B. Martin, who will show that you don’t need to be a career politician to effectively represent the workers and families in your district,” said Minority Leader Kenny Yuko. “In fact, as a former union member myself, I’m confident that Dale B. Martin will bring an important perspective to the legislature – he knows what it’s like to go to work every day, day after day, and work with his hands to get the job done. I look forward to working with him to represent Cuyahoga County.”
