Obhof Issues Statement in Support of Federal Bill to Free Up CARES Funding for State and Local Governments
COLUMBUS—On June 4, Congressman Warren Davidson introduced H.R. 7094
, The Flexibility for States and Localities Act. This bill would allow states greater discretion over how to spend funds allocated to states through the $150 billion Coronavirus Relief Fund that Congress created for states to address the novel coronavirus pandemic, within the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act.
In response, Ohio Senate President Larry Obhof
(R-Medina) issued the following statement:
“I appreciate Congressman Davidson’s leadership in providing greater flexibility to state and local governments. As we rebuild Ohio’s economy we must also contend with the fiscal strains caused by the shutdown. H.R. 7094 will help greatly with this. Instead of a nationwide ‘one-size-fits-all’ solution, it will give Ohio’s leaders the flexibility to make decisions that are best for our own communities.”
