May 31, 2019
COLUMBUS—Senate President Larry Obhof (R-Medina) was recently recognized by Ohio Jewish Communities with the organization's "Legislative Champion" award. The award acknowledges President Obhof's support of Jewish communities in Ohio.
"He just cares about what's right. One of the first calls I got after the Pittsburgh synagogue massacre was from President Obhof," said Howie Beigelman, executive director of Ohio Jewish Communities. "From community safety and security for religious institutions and nonprofits, to workforce development, and to taking on the opioid crisis, he has shown time and again that while he doesn't believe government is 'the' answer, it does play a critical role as a partner and in leveraging private sector support."
"I am humbled to receive this recognition from Ohio Jewish Communities," said Obhof. "Our Jewish communities strengthen and lift up neighborhoods across our state, despite the adversity they face, and we are committed to their success."
Ohio Jewish Communities represents the eight Jewish Federations in the state, their partners and agencies in Columbus and in Washington D.C. on a range of state, federal and international issues. The Legislative Champion award was presented in Columbus at a reception on May 22.
