Members of the Ohio Senate today voted to approve legislation that seeks to conform Ohio’s tax code with recent changes to the federal tax code. Senate Bill 2 would save taxpayers nearly $22 million in fiscal year 2015 and would help prevent complications when Ohioans file their tax returns.
We recently held our first session in the Ohio Senate of the 131st General Assembly, the two-year cycle for introducing and enacting new legislation. The beginning of the new legislative session brings a flurry of activity – the consideration and passage of Ohio’s biennial budget, the introduction of new bills, and the re-introduction of some bills that were considered (but not enacted) by prior General Assemblies.
State Senator Larry Obhof today announced that he has introduced Senate Bill 26, which will reduce the filing fees necessary to start a new business in Ohio. Under Obhof’s bill, these costs would be reduced by more than 20 percent.
State Senator Larry Obhof was today unanimously reelected by his colleagues to serve as the Senate Majority Whip, a post he has held since January 2013. Senator Obhof will continue to serve as Majority Whip for the 131st General Assembly, which begins in January and runs through the end of 2016.
