Today, JobsOhio announced the release of $10 million for the construction of a Petmin pig iron plant in the Ashtabula Harbor. State Sen. Sean O’Brien (D-Bazetta) released the following statement in response:
“This investment in Ashtabula County is a smart one,” said O’Brien. “We have some of the best workers in the world and this plant will go a long way toward improving the economy of our region. I’m thankful for the work JobsOhio, our local leaders and my colleagues in the legislature have done to bring this project to fruition.”
The funds, released as a $5 million economic development grant and a $5 million revitalization grant, will help Petmin start construction on the $474 million plant. Construction, which is expected to take around two years and require around 650 workers, should start in late spring or early summer 2020.
According to Petmin, the Ashtabula plant will employ 110 people during production. Additional information can be found here
