Today marks 30 days since Trumbull County Common Pleas Judge Peter Kontos ruled in favor of the TJX HomeGoods distribution site in Lordstown. As a month has now passed and the committee opposing the site has not appealed the judge's decision, the project now seems cleared to move forward.

Today, Trumbull County Common Pleas Judge Peter Kontos ruled against an injunction to block construction of a 1.2 million-square-foot TJX HomeGoods distribution center in the village of Lordstown. State Senator Sean J. O'Brien (D-Bazetta) commented on the judge's decision.

Today, state Senator Sean J. O'Brien (D-Bazetta) praised the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (Ohio EPA) for providing communities in the Mahoning Valley with more than $45 million in low-interest loans and principal forgiveness funding for projects aimed at improving drinking water and wastewater infrastructure.

Bipartisan legislation aimed at funding projects to protect Lake Erie was signed into law by Governor John R. Kasich yesterday. Sponsored jointly by state Senators Sean J. O'Brien (D-Bazetta) and Randy Gardner (R-Bowling Green), Senate Bill 299, known as the Clean Lake 2020 Plan, allocates more than $36 million to a number of programs to keep the lake clean.

Today the U.S. Supreme Court issued its decision on the Janus vs. AFSCME case, stating that public-sector unions' fair share fees, collected from employees who decline to join a union but still benefit from their negotiations, are unconstitutional. The decision will essentially bring "right to work" to public sector workers across America.

Today, a bill backed by state Senators Sean J. O'Brien (D-Bazetta) and Joe Uecker (R-Miami Township) to encourage participation in hunting and fishing was unanimously approved by the Ohio House and now heads to Governor Kasich's desk for his signature.
