May 2, 2019
COLUMBUS—State Senator Bob Peterson (R-Washington Court House) is informing area residents that the Ohio Department of Natural Resources Division of Forestry recently approved grant funding for 52 projects totaling $297,520 for volunteer fire departments in rural parts of eastern and southern Ohio.

"Our volunteer fire departments are crucial for the safety and wellbeing of the citizens in our community," said Peterson. "I am happy to see the state continue to invest in their success and am confident these resources will be put to good use."

Grant dollars may be used for the purchase of utility vehicles, wildfire pump units, protective equipment, updated radio systems and other items to support their ability to effectively respond to an emergency situation.

The grants may fund up to 50 percent of the total project cost, not to exceed $10,000.
